Proverbs 25:4-5 says, “Remove the dross from the silver, and a silversmith can produce a vessel; remove wicked officials from the king’s presence, and his throne will be established through righteousness."
It’s said that God brings people into your life when you need them. Each person in your path is meant to help you grow. This includes the ones that stick around and the ones that stay in your life for a couple years then abruptly leave. The people who are in your life for a short season can have as much of an impact as those who are there for a long time. But, it’s always hard when God removes someone so close to you in life, especially when they’ve been around a while. Sometimes it seems as though he isn’t choosing the right path for you but God is all-knowing. Proverbs 25:4-5 says, “Remove the dross from the silver, and a silversmith can produce a vessel; remove wicked officials from the king’s presence, and his throne will be established through righteousness.” This verse resonates with me when someone leaves my life unexpectedly. It shows me that although I may have thought the person was good for me, God showed me they weren’t. As humans we wear a veil that we allow to block us from God's word. As hard as we try to remove it, sometimes the veil stays on, especially when it comes to the people around us that we’ve grown accustomed to. Thankfully we have God on our side to help us see past our veils to the truth of the people around us. I had an instance back in college where I thought I had met the love of my life. I had been dating this guy for almost 3 years and I knew around graduation he was going to propose. In the beginning, the relationship was great! I felt like he was the guy I had been praying about. As the years went on though, I started to realize that maybe he wasn’t the guy I was supposed to be with, partially because he never led me further in my faith. I broke up with him and explained that I wanted to grow in my faith. The break up didn’t end well and I kept asking God if I had done the right thing. Looking back now I realize that God removed him from my life for a reason. God knew that if I continued to keep my veil on regarding him, I would not lead a God first relationship. After breaking it off, I started to go back to church and I started to truly understand myself. It never seems easy or fair when God removes someone from your life. It seems as though He is only trying to hurt you but that is completely untrue. God brings people into your life to help you grow and understand Him. As you go throughout your day, think of this question. Who has God put in your life that helps you grow in faith? I suggest you keep them around as long as you can. Thanks for reading!
