Dear Sister in Christ,
During life's challenging circumstances, it is natural to question and doubt. Yet, as women of faith, we are called to surrender our burdens and find solace in the loving arms of our heavenly Father. Today, we want to reflect on the attribute of God's omnipotence—the limitless power and sovereignty that He holds over all things. For me, one of my life’s most challenging circumstances was the decision and then the heart-wrenching journey of survival after giving up my son for adoption, when I was a teenager.
Omnipotence is a divine attribute of God that signifies His all-powerfulness and unlimited authority. It emphasizes that God possesses ultimate and unlimited power, having control over all things in Heaven and on earth. This concept is supported by various scriptural passages, such as Psalm 115:3, which states, "Our God is in heaven; he does whatever pleases him." Omnipotence implies that God can accomplish anything that aligns with His nature and purposes.
Applying the concept of omnipotence to my life brought about profound transformation and reassurance. I recognized that God has complete control over all things in Heaven and earth, including my son! I kept saying to myself, ‘If I trust that God has me in His hands, I have to trust that He has Justin as well.’ This was a difficult task, and frankly continues to remain one! Here are some ways that I apply the understanding of God’s omnipotence:
Trusting in God's Sovereignty: Continually recognizing that God's power surpasses any human limitation. I have to trust that He has complete authority over my life and circumstances, even when things seem uncertain or challenging. Seeing how He had a hand in my life when it was falling apart as a pregnant teenager is proof that He can work out everything for my good (Romans 8:28).
Seeking God's Guidance: When faced with ALL decisions or difficulties, I aim to rely on God's omnipotence to guide my steps. This is done through praying fervently and continually. Seeking His wisdom and discernment and trusting that He will direct my paths (Proverbs 3:5-6). Before going into a meeting at work, or a conversation with my husband or a friend, I pray for God’s power to direct my words.
Finding Strength in Weakness: Embracing the paradox that God's power is made perfect in my weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). This one is a continual work in progress as a prideful self-reliant female. I must continually acknowledge my limitations and inadequacies, knowing that God's omnipotence is manifested in my relianceon Him. The affirmations that are all over social media, that state I can do it on my own – those are lies! I have to continually remind myself that it is HIS power that strengthens me and not my own.
Resting in God's Protection: Taking refuge in the assurance that God's omnipotence extends to my protection and well-being. In times of incredible fear or uncertainty I remember that He is MY stronghold and defender (Psalm 91:1-2), God is my ‘soft place to fall’. Sometimes, when I really need to take refuge in Him, I will visualize crawling onto His lap while I pray, cry, or just rest.
Surrendering Control: This one goes hand in hand with the self-reliance and social media lies. It is difficult, but oh so freeing to release the need for control over every aspect of my life. Understanding that God's plans and timing far exceed my own understanding, I find the freedom and peace that comes with surrendering to His omnipotent guidance. Sisters - allow Him to shape your life according to His divine purposes.
Remember, applying the concept of omnipotence to your life requires ongoing faith, surrender, and trust in God's character. The only way to know His character is to cultivate a deep relationship with Him through prayer, studying His Word, and seeking His presence. As you embrace His all-powerful nature, you will experience His transformative work in your life and witness the manifestation of His omnipotence in remarkable ways.
May you find comfort and encouragement in the boundless power of our Almighty God. Remember that you are not alone, and God's presence is with you every step of the way. May His grace and love be a balm to your soul, bringing healing and restoration.
In Christ's love,
Nicole
Dear Heavenly Father,
In the depths of our souls, we acknowledge that You are mighty and powerful, sovereign over all things. Though it may be difficult to comprehend, we find solace in the knowledge that You understand our pain and heartache intimately. You have witnessed our tears and felt the weight of our sorrow. In this moment, we surrender our grief, uncertainties, & regrets to Your omnipotent hands.
When doubts assail our hearts, help us to hold onto the promise of Your divine plans. For You, O Lord, hold the future of our children in Your grasp. Just as You declare in Jeremiah 29:11, You have plans to give them hope and a future. Remind us that Your purposes extend far beyond what we can perceive, and that even in the midst of our brokenness, You are working all things together for good.
Grant us the courage to trust Your wisdom and divine orchestration of our lives, knowing that You are faithful to bring beauty from ashes.Help us to release the burden of control, knowing that Your ways are higher than our own.
Renew our hope and strengthen our faith as we navigate this journey of surrender. Let Your perfect peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
